Store To Door Expands Grocery Delivery Service for Homebound Seniors
In response to the growing number of elderly adults unable to get to the store to purchase and bring home groceries, Store To Door is deliberately attempting to expand its service delivery area. While nominally present in all seven metro counties, efforts are underway to build customer awareness and volunteer support in the southern Anoka cities of Anoka, Coon Rapids and Blaine; in the cities of Hugo, Stillwater, Woodbury and Cottage Grove in Washington County, and in Inver Grove Heights, Eagan, Apple Valley and Burnsville in Dakota.
Between 2005 and 2015, the 65+ population in each of these areas is projected to increase between 60-75%.
"We have so many seniors in our congregation and a lot of them would be able to maintain their independence if someone could do their shopping for them," said Gloria Swanson, Director of Vital Aging Ministry at Price of Peace Lutheran Church in Burnsville.
