Executive Director Mary Jo Schifsky has over 25 years of corporate business experience in positions of increasing responsibility with Minnegasco, Target and the Hazelden Foundation. From 1994-2004, she owned and operated Pickle Product, a children's gift and stationery manufacturing company in Minneapolis.
She's never strayed too far from her retail grocery roots, from her first job as a cashier at Applebaum's through several years of starting up and working at food co-ops. Working with groceries and Cub Foods is very familiar.
Mary Jo has a strong interest in aging services; in late 2005, she formed her own consulting practice, Aging Choices, advocating aging planning for adult children and their aging parents and advised clients on issues concerning finances, medical social and housing issues. She holds an MBA from the Carlson School of Management and a BA from the University of Minnesota. In May 2006, she earned an Advocacy Leadership for Vital Aging Certificate from the University of Minnesota. This year-long program, completed in conjunction with the Vital Aging Network, exposed Mary Jo to the myriad of issues facing aging adults in today's society as well as to many resources available to help.
