Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are the foundation of Store to Door®. Over 400 volunteers work with Store to Door® ’s small staff to take our clients' grocery orders over the phone, shop the orders at Cub Foods stores across the Metropolitan area, and deliver the groceries to the clients' kitchens. Volunteers enable clients to remain in their homes, living independently, despite not being able to go out to get their groceries or prescriptions. Volunteers also make it possible for clients to maintain a higher level of nutritional quality and importantly, receive personal attention on a regular basis from their order takers, shoppers and delivery staff.

In 2007, volunteers worked 32,035 hours (an increase of 7.8 % over 2006), contributing time and energy valued at $601,298 on behalf of Store to Door®’s clients.

Volunteer Order Taker

Are you friendly, patient, and familiar with computers? Call customers from your home to take their grocery orders and enter the orders online. You will be assigned up to four customers to call regularly, spending approximately two hours per week on the day of your choice, taking customer orders. All you need is Internet access separate from your phone line. We ask for a one-year commitment. You’ll really make a difference in your customers’ lives!

Office Volunteer

Join us in our St. Paul office doing activities that fit all skill levels, from cutting coupons for our fundraiser to doing data entry to helping with bulk mailings. We accept people from all backgrounds. Come once, or commit longer; you'll be welcome.

Sewing Project Volunteer

We deliver about 500 orders a week, including lots of refrigerated and frozen products. We use handmade insulated cloth bags to keep these products cold during shopping and delivery. This is a practical, fun way to use your sewing skills for a good cause. You can sew bags as an individual or as a sewing group. We have kits with pre-cut fabric and simple instructions. Help us keep the milk and ice cream cold until it reaches customers!
