URGENT NEED: Van Replacement

delivery vanAlthough summer’s here and it’s easier to be out and get around, many local seniors will continue to struggle with getting food into their homes. Last summer, we received more than 350 calls from seniors, caregivers and others needing help.

This summer is also going to present a special challenge for Store To Door. To continue meeting the food delivery needs of our senior clients, we need to replace one of the refrigerated delivery vans before the heat of summer begins. It’s a critical need. We hope you can help.

Delivery vans are a vital link in the lifeline between the grocery store and kitchen for the home-bound elderly adults we serve. Last year, we made more than 22,000 deliveries. For many of the seniors we serve, these deliveries mean the difference between living independently in their own homes and having to move to more expensive, care intensive housing options.

The cost of a replacement delivery van with refrigeration is about $40,000. We’re getting some help with the purchase but we need your help, too.  The Katherine B. Andersen (KBA) Fund of The Saint Paul Foundation is offering a $20,000 matching funds challenge grant. Any new, first-time donations to Store To Door plus gifts from past donors who have not contributed within the past year will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the KBA Fund. Any year-over-year increases in giving from current Store To Door donors can also qualify for matching funds.

Reliable deliveries of food depend on reliable vans. Please consider making a donation to support this important work today. Visit our project funding page at or make a donation directly online at (Indicate in the note field to designate your gift for van purchase).
